時長老須菩提在大眾中，即從座中起，偏袒右肩，右膝著地，合掌恭敬而白佛言：「希有世尊，如來善護念諸菩薩，善付囑諸菩薩。世尊，善男子、善女人發阿耨多羅三藐三菩提心，應云何住？云何降服其心？」

此時，長老須菩提在眾僧侶中，從座位起來，右肩偏袒，右膝跪地，合掌恭敬地向佛祖請教：「希有的世尊，如來(即佛祖)誠心教化愛護攝念眾生，使其得悟成菩薩(即得悟者)。世尊，對出家及在家的善男信女們，如何發起追求<無上正等正覺>(即阿耨多羅三藐三菩提)的心願，應在何處？及如何降服那煩惱妄想之心？」

Part 1

At this moment an elder Monk Subhuti(須菩提), rose from his seat, uncovered his right shoulder, knelt on his right knee, raised his joined palms addressed Buddha respectfully: " Our World-honored One(世尊), Buddha (如來) you whole-heartedly and devotedly teach and lead the beings, let them enlighten and become Bodhisattvas (菩薩), for those good men and women who are at home or retire from home, and who have a wish to seek for enlightenment, how should they position themselves and control thier thoughts?"
